WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — One person was killed in a fiery crash along Route 24 in West Bridgwater early Friday morning.
The crash happened at 3 a.m. on the northbound side of Route 24 near Route 106, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Police said a 2017 Ford Explorer was northbound traveling at a high rate of speed when, for reasons still under investigation, it went off the right side of the road and struck a tree.
The Explorer burst into flames with the driver, a 43-year-old man from Brockton trapped inside. He was pronounced dead on the scene, officials said.
The passenger, a 40-year-old female from Taunton, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
No additional information has been available yet. The crash remains under investigation.
