FITCHBURG, Mass. — 4 people were injured after the Fitchburg Fire Department responded to a porch fire Sunday morning.
Crews were dispatched to West Fitchburg for reports of a porch on fire.
Upon arrival, crews noticed heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the building. The fire was quickly elevated to a three-alarm response. Crews immediately stretched multiple hose lines to attack the fires inside the building.
Two people were rescued from inside the building. One of them was on the second floor, which prompted the use of a ladder.
The fire was quickly extinguished.
A total of 4 people were injured, 3 civilians and 1 firefighter.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
