NATICK, Mass. — Gerald Craffey, convicted for the 1991 rape and murder of Corrine Flynn in Hyde Park, is scheduled next week to go before the Massachusetts Parole Board for the fourth time.
Flynn’s family is gearing up to testify against him.
“It’s exhausting that we have to continually go through this,” Corrine Flynn’s daughter, Courtney Stenstrom told me.
Gerald Craffey, a family friend, is serving a life sentence for the vicious murder of Corrine Flynn.
“We think about it every day, but this stirs it all, it all comes back,” David Comperchio, Corrine’s brother told me.
In 1991, Corrine Flynn was found stabbed to death in the bedroom of her house in Hyde Park.
Prosecutors say Craffey carefully planned the murder on a night when he knew Courtney, who was just 8 years old, was at someone else’s house.
“He came over, just some excuse to let him in the house. The car broke down whatnot, that’s how it all started,” David Comperchio said.
Prosecutors say Craffey disconnected Corrine’s phone and raped her before stabbing Corrine to death.
Corrine lived with MS and depended on a cane.
“She was very vulnerable. And that was something that he knew, obviously,” Comperchio said.
Gerald Craffey told the parole board in 2010:
“I have no excuses for murdering Corrine Flynn.”
Now, 15 years later, Corrine’s family is fighting against Craffey’s release.
They’ve started a petition that 35 hundred people have already signed.
“Why are you fighting so strongly to keep him where he is?” I asked Corrine’s daughter.
“I think he is ultimately a danger to society. I want to make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else,” she said.
The Suffolk County DA’s office will argue against Craffey’s parole request.
The Parole hearing is schedule for 10 AM on Wednesday, January 22nd.
