NORWELL, Mass. — A trio of Norwell High School students undoubtedly have the attention of the golf team’s coaching staff after they all nailed hole-in-ones during a tryout on Sunday.
Liam Shephard and Ky Princi, both seniors, along with freshman Owen Lestage, all made aces during their tryout at the Harmon Golf Club in Rockland, Norwell High School head golf coach Ken Camerota told Boston 25 News.
Shephard, Princi, and Lestage were among 35 golfers who turned out to showcase their skills at the nine-hole, par-three course in a bid to make the roster.
Shephard hit his hole-in-one on hole three from 70 yards away. Princi made his on hole eight from 80 yards away. Lestage flew his into the bottom of the opening hole from 80 yards.
“They are all nice young men. It’s so unusual to have one hole-in-one, let alone three on the same day,” said Camerota, who witnessed two of the three aces. “There was a lot of cheering on the golf course.”
Camerota, who has been coaching the Norwell team for about 15 years, wanted to make sure to thank the Harmon Golf Club for their support.
“Harmon donates the team’s practice time. We are so appreciative of the member and owners of Harmon. We always have a strong team in the South Shore League,” Camerota added.
The players will take part in three more tryouts before final decisions are made, but Camerota noted that Shephard, Princi, and Lestage definitely made great cases for themselves.
