BOSTON — An East Boston man has been charged with firearm violations, alongside 2 juveniles charged with drug offenses, on Thursday.
Around 9:05 p.m. officers patrolling the area of Meridian and Harve Street exited their cruiser to talk with a group of people walking in the area. Two of the individuals immediately turned around to avoid them.
Officers requested them to stop when one of them took off and ran. Officers were able to stop the individual and search them, which resulted in nothing.
A broadcast of a description of the group was made by officers, and they were located in the area of Central Square.
The group was searched, and officers found an empty 12-round magazine from one of the individuals and plastic bags of marijuana.
Officers investigated the surrounding areas where the group traveled and found a firearm inside a satchel bag discarded in a trash can. Officers determined that the empty magazine they found on one of the suspects belonged to the firearm.
Officers arrested the individual, 19-year-old Luis Guerra-Perez of East Boston, and charged him with:
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
- Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
- Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device
- Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D.
Officers also arrested 2 16-year-olds and charged them with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
