2 victims shot, 2 suspects arrested after shooting in Hadley

HADLEY, Mass. — Two victims were treated for gunshot wounds following a double-shooting incident in Hadley late Sunday night.

The Hadley Police Department confirmed the shooting occurred shortly after 10 p.m. after receiving a call of shots fired inside a Walmart on Route 9. During the call, police were told of the description of the suspect’s vehicle.

Hadley Police officers, who were a short distance away from the scene, located the suspected vehicle before arresting both the driver and passenger. Two handguns were found as well as suspected heroin and cocaine inside the vehicle.

Officers found a vehicle that contained two gunshot victims at the scene, who received treatment shortly after. Mutual aid was requested from Amherst Police, Massachusetts State Police, and UMass Amherst Police. Route 9 between East Street and Mill Valley Road was closed for nearly two hours during the investigation.

The incident remains under investigation jointly by the Hadley Police Department, Massachusetts State Police Detectives from the Northwestern District Attorney’s office, and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
