Students and a staff member at the William W. Henderson Inclusion School were burned after a mishap in the school cafeteria Thursday.

A mobile lunch cart containing hot water beneath the food trays tipped over and spilled onto the students in the cafeteria of Dorchester K-12 school.

The school nurse immediately provided care and the students were taken to a hospital to be cared for, according to a Boston Public Schools spokesperson.

One of the students suffered serious injuries while the other student had only minor injuries, according to Boston police.

“We are grateful for the quick response and are now working to ensure that our students and families have the support they need,” Boston Public Schools said in a statement.
