SWANSEA, Mass. — Two people were seriously injured in a crash involving a motorcycle in Swansea Saturday afternoon.

The collision between a 2014 Toyota Rav4 SUV and a 1999 Honda VT1100 motorcycle happened at the intersection of Hortonville Road and Arrowhead Court around 2:05 p.m., police said.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 44-year-old Somerset man, and his passenger, a 43-year-old woman from East Providence, R.I., were taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries. Their conditions were unknown as of Sunday afternoon, police said.

The driver of the SUV, a 33-year-old Bristol, R.I. man, was not injured.

Investigators believe the SUV was driving north on Hortonville Road, and the motorcycle was traveling south, when the SUV made a left turn toward Arrowhead Court and the two vehicles collided.

Hortonville Road was closed for about two hours on Saturday.

The crash remains under investigation.
