Two people hospitalized after boating accident on Taunton River

FALL RIVER, Mass. — Two adult men were hospitalized after a boat crash in Fall River Friday night, according to police.

Emergency crews responded to a boating accident on the Taunton River just before 10 p.m.

Officials say a 43-year-old Mansfield man and a 44-year-old man from North Easton, had struck the pier of the former Shell Oil tank farm at the end of New St. in Fall River. Both men were transported to a local area hospital with unknown injuries.

According to police, initially one of the injured men told investigators that a third unidentified male had been in the boat.

However, after crews triggered a response to try and find the missing party, the man admitted he had lied and there were actually only the two occupants on the boat.

The investigation remains ongoing by Massachusetts Environmental Police.
