2 people in custody after pursuit ends with crash on Expressway in Boston, state police say

BOSTON — Two people were taken into custody after a police pursuit ended with a crash that shut down the Expressway in Boston on Thursday morning, authorities said.

The chase started on the southbound side of Interstate 93 near Dorchester Avenue around 9 a.m. and came to a crashing end in the area of Exit 13A on the northbound side of the highway, according to Massachusetts State Police.

State police noted that two people were taken away by troopers after the crash. Their names haven’t been released.

Video from the scene showed a crashed pickup truck and sedan, as well as multiple state police cruisers, blocking all travel lanes on the busy highway.

Traffic was diverted at Exit 11 and the Neponset onramp for about 20 minutes while crews worked to clear the wreckage.

All of the travel lanes were reopened just after 10 a.m. and traffic started flowing again.

It wasn’t immediately clear if anyone was injured in the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
