TEWKSBURY, Mass. — Tewksbury police announced the Tuesday arrests of 2 Lawrence residents who are facing several charges of drug distribution and possession charges.
Angel Peguero-Mota, 22, and Mari Sousa, 44, of Lawrence both face:
- Distribution of a Class A Drug
- Distribution of a Class B Drug
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (two counts)
Sousa faces an additional charge of Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License.
Tewksbury Police Narcotics Unit was conducting an investigation in the area of Andover Street when they stopped a gray Subaru Crosstrek.
The occupants of the vehicle, Peguero-Mota and Sousa, were arrested without incident.
Following their arrest, police searched Peguero-Mota and found a cell phone, about $305 in cash, a small bag of a white rock-like substance later determined to be 8.8 grams of crack cocaine, two small bags of a white powdery substance later determined to be 4.6 grams of cocaine, and a small bag of a hard brown substance later determined to be 4.4 grams of fentanyl.
Officers also searched Sousa and found $20 in cash and an empty glass cylinder pipe.
Both individuals are to be arraigned in Lowell District Court on Wednesday.
