BROCKTON, Mass. — A Brockton 17-year-old boy has been arraigned on a murder charge in connection with the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man.
The Plymouth County District Attorney says Tashawn Brown was arraigned on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty for killing Fabio Andrade-Monteiro in the driveway of a home on Ash Street back on February 10.

“Witnesses reported on or about February 15th that they had heard a discussion between the defendant and juvenile and others that included language about quote ‘smoking Fabio,” said Joshua Gedraitis, assistant district attorney for Plymouth County.
Prosecutors say Brown was in a borrowed van on Ash Street in Brockton that night with a few friends. At one point, police believe he got out of the van and went to the driver’s side window, where Fabio was sitting and shot and killed him through the window.
“Inside that vehicle, Mr. Fabio Monteiro is heard by witnesses to say something to the effect of ‘is that a green laser,” said Gedraitis. “A shot is then made from outside the vehicle through the driver side door window.”
Fabio died from that single gunshot wound to his head.
Police say nearby surveillance shows three people running from the scene after the shooting.
Investigators also found pictures of Brown with a gun in the days before this shooting.
“What’s most important is that in multiple photographs the defendant is brandishing or holding what appears to be a black pistol with a green laser on it,” said Gedraitis. “That laser is illuminated in a number of photographs that the defendant took with his phone.”
Brown is being held without bail until his probable cause hearing on March 17th.
The homicide investigation is active and ongoing by Massachusetts State Police and Brockton Police.
