BOSTON — 16 people have been displaced following a third-alarm fire in Jamaica Plain on Saturday night.

Around 11:15 fire crews were called to a 4-story building fire on Boylston Street. According to Boston Fire, the building was occupied and the fire was first spotted on multiple floors.

According to the Fire Chief, the fire was knocked down but crews battled with the water freezing instantly because of cold temperatures.

“The ladder companies did a great job on getting ground ladders and aerial ladders to the building working around the multiple power lines,” Boston Fire said on social media.

16 residents were displaced and damage is estimated at $1 million.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
