13 people displaced after New Year’s morning fire damages Boston apartment building

BOSTON — Thirteen people were forced out of their homes after a fire broke out at an apartment building in Boston early New Year’s morning, officials said.

Firefighters responding to a report of a blaze at 289 Corey Road in the city’s Brighton neighborhood just before 4 a.m. found flames in the basement and first floor of a four-story, eight-unit building, according to the Boston Fire Department.

There were no reported injuries in the fire, however, the building suffered an estimated $250,000 in damages.
