$1.1 billion Mega Millions jackpot up for grabs

DEDHAM, Mass. — “Oh my goodness I am going to be so happy. It is going to be amazing” says Rafael Gonzalez, a lottery player.

That’s the reaction Rafael Gonzalez will have if he wins the billion dollars in Tuesday night’s drawing. He’ll have the option to spread it out over 30 years or get half a billion paid in a lump sum.

“First thing is make sure that I pay off my mortgage, contribute to my daughter’s college and do investments,” says Gonzalez.

“Help the family, help the community whatever I can do. I can’t use it all so I am going to help as much as I can,” says Johnny Almeida, a lottery player.

But the chances of them winning are astronomical. One in about 300 million to be exact. In fact, you have a better chance of getting struck by lightning.

“You have to play the lottery. If you are gambling you never know so anything can happen,” says Gonzalez.

“I really don’t play but $1.1 billion is a chance worth taking,” says Almeida.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
