10 people from Mass. land on 2023 Forbes Billionaires List

BOSTON — Forbes Magazine recently released its “2023 Billionaires List,” and 10 people from Massachusetts landed on it.

Forbes’ list is comprised of 2,640 billionaires from across the globe. Forbes did note that its list is down from 2,668 billionaires last year.

Altogether, the planet’s billionaires are now worth $12.2 trillion, a drop from $12.7 trillion in March 2022, according to Forbes.

Massachusetts residents who made the list are as follows:

Abigail Johnson

Abigail, a native of Milton, checked in at 72nd on the list. She has served as CEO of Fidelity Investments since 2014, when she took over for her father, and has been chairman since 2016.

Abigail has a net worth of $21.6 billion.

Robert Kraft

Kraft, of Brookline, checked in at 165th on the list. He bought the New England Patriots for $172 million in 1994.

Kraft has a net worth of $10.6 billion.

Edward Johnson, IV

Edward, a native of Boston, is Abigail Johnson’s brother. He checked in at 352nd on the list. He is the president of Pembroke Real Estate, which is owned by Fidelity’s parent company FMR.

Edward has a net worth of $6.8 billion.

Elizabeth Johnson

Elizabeth a native of Boston, is the sister of Abigail Johnson. She checked in at 497th on the list. She founded Louisburg Farm, a stable of show jumping horses based in Florida in 2013.

Elizabeth has a net worth of $5.3 billion.

Robe Hale Jr.

Hale, a native of Boston, checked in at 534th on the list. He is the founder and CEO of wholesale telecommunications provider Granite Telecommunications.

Hale has a net worth of $5 billion.

Jim Davis & family

Davis, of Newton, checked in at 552nd on the list. He bought a small Boston shoemaker in 1972 and turned it into $4.4 billion (sales) New Balance.

Davis has a net worth of $4.9 billion.

Stephane Bancel

Bancel, of Boston, checked in at 624th on the list. He is the CEO of Cambridge-based biotech firm Moderna.

Bancel has a net worth of $4.4 billion.

Alan Trefler

Trefler, of Brookline, checked in at 1,647th on the list. He launched the Cambridge-based software company Pegasystems in 1983.

Trefler has a net worth of $1.9 billion.

Robert Langer

Langer, of Boston, checked in at 1,804th on the list. He is a scientist and professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he leads the eponymous Langer Lab.

Langer has a net worth of $1.8 billion.

Noubar Afeyan

Afeyan, of Lexington, checked in tied for 1,804th. He is the founded of the Cambridge-based life sciences innovation firm Flagship Pioneering.

Afeyan has a net worth of $1.8 billion.
