1 person hospitalized after being rescued from burning home in Lynn

LYNN, Mass. — One person was taken to the hospital after firefighters rescued them from a burning home in Lynn on Saturday, officials said.

Firefighters responding to a report of smoke inside a three-story home at 104 Lewis Street were greeted by flames, according to Lynn Fire Chief Dan Sullivan.

As crews battled the flames, they found a resident in an apartment, began CPR, and rushed him to an awaiting ambulance, Sullivan noted.

The victim, whose name hasn’t been released, was taken to a local hospital for additional treatment. There was no immediate word on his condition.

“Our crew did a great job of limiting the fire damage and giving the victim the best chance for survival,” Sullivan said in a statement shared with Boston 25 News. “I’m very proud of our crews.”

Video from the scene showed a heavy emergency presence blocking the neighborhood as firefighters worked to knock down the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
