BOURNE, Mass. — Bourne Police are investigating a single-car crash that left a 23-year-old Falmouth man dead.
Police were called to the scene in front of the Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday for a single-car crash. Police say it appears the Mercedes sedan was headed west on Sandwich Road when it veered off and struck a stone wall in front of the school.
When officers arrived, the car was fully engulfed in flames.
Officers pried open the driver's door and used a fire extinguisher to knock down the flames and pull out the driver. They then noticed there was a passenger in the car. They got him out and both were taken to the hospital.
The driver, a 23-year-old Falmouth man, was pronounced dead. The passenger, a 28-year-old Falmouth man, is in critical condition.
The accident is under investigation.
