Ky. mom gives birth to 5 babies on her birthday

A Kentucky mother gave birth to quintuplets on her own birthday.

"We’re overjoyed. We've never been happier because anything could've gone wrong but they're so stable and so healthy,” said Katie Schaftlein, the mother.

Katie and Lucas Schaftlein welcomed Savannah, Sadie, Sofia, Scarlett, and the lone little boy Lucas were all born last week on Nov. 11 after almost 30 weeks inside their mom Katie. Although born prematurely, all five babies are healthy.

"Sadie was the smallest and whenever she was in my belly, she would move all the time and that's exactly how she is right now. She moves all the time - she cannot sit still,” said Katie.

Now their family has six people with Nov. 11 birthdays, and dad Lucas is already thinking of next year.

"I think I’m going to need some gift cards to go buy some presents next year...it's going to be a very special day,” he said.

The newborns should be able to go home in about six weeks, around Katie’s due date.
