Hull School Committee: Schools superintendent off the job amid allegations of personal misconduct

HULL — The schools superintendent is off the job pending a review amid allegations of personal misconduct and police have been notified, the Hull School Committee said Monday.

Superintendent Michael Devine has taken a leave of absence and has been relieved of his duties pending the outcome of a School Committee meeting in executive session scheduled for Wednesday, school officials said.

Officials would not release further information on the alleged misconduct, saying the situation is a personnel matter.

Devine’s status as superintendent will be the subject of review during Wednesday’s meeting.

The School Committee has hired an independent outside investigator to review the allegations and whether there have been any policy violations.

School officials said Hull Police were also notified about the allegations.

Assistant Superintendent Judith Kuehn has taken on the role of Acting Superintendent. She has worked for the district for more than 12 years, including as director of student services and assistant superintendent of curriculum, instruction and professional development.

The district has also notified its labor relations attorneys, officials said.
