BOSTON — It is all about fun, family, fireworks on the Fourth of July.
Audrey McClelland is a mother of five and founder of MomGenerations.com. She told FOX25 budgets for Independence Day festivities can get out of hand.
"You can start seeing it get bigger and bigger when you start seeing everything out there that you can do," McClelland said.
McClelland found ways to stretch your dollar at some of Boston's top summer spots:
Fireworks are iconic for the Fourth of July and you do not need a penthouse view to enjoy Boston's show. One of the best views is the Boston Pops Firework Spectacular. It's free and gives you access to amazing performances.
This year Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas are among the performers. Crowds will be treated to these powerhouses in addition to the spectacular firework show over the Charles River.
Boston hosts one of the largest summer festivals in the country. Boston Harbor Fest runs from July 1st through the 4th. There is something for everyone including food, activities, historical renactments and tours.
The Boston Harbor Islands is one of Boston's best kept secrets is affordable and fun for all ages.
A ferry ride to the islands can run as low as 43-dollars for a family pack. Once you arrive there is access to beaches, camping, hiking and other activities.
