How to talk to children about the coronavirus pandemic

BOSTON — With coronavirus affecting schedules, large events and travel there is sure to be stress and anxiety in people’s households. This is especially true when it comes to speaking with children.

Dr. Gene Beresin, executive director of The Clay Center for Young Healthy Minds at Mass. General Hospital, joined Boston 25 Morning News to discuss the basic things children want to know about coronavirus.

According to Dr. Beresin, children want to know three basic things:

  1. Am I safe?
  2. Are you, the people caring for me, safe?
  3. How will this situation affect my daily life?

Parents and caregivers need to talk with children about COVID-19 to address their concerns.
