BOSTON — The holiday travel rush officially kicks off Friday and state transportation officials want the public to know they’ll have plenty of company on the way to grandma’s or wherever you’re headed this Thanksgiving.
This will be the busiest travel period at Logan Airport since the pandemic began, according to Lisa Wieland who is the CEO at Massport.
“We think this will be the largest holiday travel in nearly two years,” Wieland said.
And add in a lot of people who have not stepped onto an airplane in a while.

“What’s different however is for many people it will be their first time flying since the pandemic,” Wieland said.
So, they ask people to be patient and also plan ahead.
“We strongly encourage members of the public to plan ahead and be informed by checking travel conditions, travel during off-peak hours and consider taking public transportation,” said Jamey Tesler, who is the Massachusetts Secretary of Transportation.
The other important things to note for travelers are that there will be two COVID testing sites at Logan, one at Terminal C and the other at Terminal E. And airport and transits officials also want to remind travelers that a mask is required inside the airport and on public transportation.
