BOSTON — As everyone is planning for the holiday weekend, city officials are forced to prepare for high temperatures after a heat emergency was declared in Boston.
The hot weather forced Mayor Marty Walsh to take extreme caution for the weekend, declaring the emergency will start Saturday morning.
Walsh says the city will be ready for anything that happens with the heat.
"We are opening cooling centers, and will have 18 pools open," Walsh said.

Some kids say the pool is going to be the place to be this weekend.
"I like the pool better because the sprinkler is really cold, and the pool is hot and warm," Natalia Mendez said.
With more steamy weather in the forecast, another one named Andre said he'll be back at the pool over the next few days.

"We were just planning on returning for the weekend," Andre said.

Walsh is asking neighbors to keep an eye on each other.
He also asked for people to watch out for the homeless over the weekend, saying they're especially vulnerable when the temperatures soar.
