Urgent call for help at Worcester vaccine site

WORCESTER, Mass. — A COVID-19 testing site in Worcester made an emergency call for staffing help Friday night

The UMass Memorial Health President and CEO Dr. Eric Dickson said the Mercantile Center in Worcester and the testing site at the New England Sports Center in Marlboro, both need more workers to help run the operations.

They are looking for staff in a variety of non-clinical roles, including registrars, test kit makers, couriers, and crowd management.

According to Dr. Dickson, over the past two weeks, administrative staff at Biotech, Physician Concierge Services and Marketing have been sent to both sites to help assist but it is not enough.

Dr. Dickson said if they can’t get enough volunteers, they will have to start reassignment, calling this an all-hand-on-deck operation.

“All hands on deck. Let’s do everything we can to support the clinical areas as we hit the peak of the surge over the next two weeks” said Dr. Dickson
