BOSTON — Massachusetts residents ages 75 and older can begin scheduling online appointments to get the coronavirus vaccine starting Wednesday, but the online rollout did not go smoothly for some.
The shots are set to start when Phase 2 begins on Feb. 1, but appointments can now be scheduled online. Several people reached out to Boston 25 News Wednesday saying they were unable to navigate the new system and schedule an appointment.
The state has posted a map with vaccination locations and links to make your appointment. You must be in the 75 and older group and schedule your appointment online.
Keep in mind, you will need to get your first and second shots at the same location.
If you’re having trouble finding a site with appointments available, the state says more vaccination sites and appointments will be added next week.
For those who need help with scheduling or cannot sign up online, the state is advising residents to reach out to their local Massachusetts Council on Aging or a regional Aging Services Access Point (ASAP).
At your appointment, you’ll need your ID to show proof of age. The whole appointment takes about 30 to 45 minutes and the vaccinations are free. Some companies running clinics may charge your insurance, so make sure to bring your insurance card if you have one.
