BOSTON — Restaurants are starting to get the green light for how they can reopen their dining areas.
In the heart of Quincy, Alba restaurant is preparing for their re-opening.
Owner Leo Keka has been watching and waiting for Governor Charlier Baker to give the green light.
“Our safety and our guests have always been our priority," Keka said. "Even before [the] coronavirus.”
As restaurants start to update their workplace safety standards, local health departments are gearing up to continue their efforts to make sure everyone’s on the same page.
Quincy Health Commissioner Ruth Jones told Boston 25, “our intention is to educate, to help people ease into these. these businesses, particularly restaurants, have been hit hard by this.”
Industry protocols in Phase 1, at places like barber shops, rely on customers and employees to monitor and send tips to health officials if something doesn’t look right.
Quincy has re-assigned other department heads to handle the additional work. Jones told us,
“We don’t want to be punitive," said Jones. “We want to make sure people can survive and get their business going again.”
Alba’s owner said he just wants to do what he needs to do to keep his staff and customers safe before he starts packing them in - six feet apart, of course.
