BOSTON — All voters in Massachusetts are eligible to vote by mail this year and applications for mail-in ballots should have already been sent to all registered voters in the Commonwealth.
Republican Gov. Charlie Baker signed a bill into law last month that allows all registered voters who want to vote by mail for the remaining 2020 elections, including the Sept. 1 state primary and Nov. 3 general election.
“All ballots that arrive in time to be counted will be counted,” Secretary of State William Galvin said in a statement Monday. “I encourage everyone who wants to vote by mail to apply and return their ballots as soon as possible to ensure timely delivery. Voters also always have the option of hand-delivering their ballots to their local election office, if they are concerned about whether their ballots will be delivered on time, and you can also track your ballot on our website at www.TrackMyBallotMA.com to ensure it reaches your local election in time.”
Voters can request a mail-in ballot online through a new online portal announced on Sept. 23 at www.mailmyballotma.com.
Vote by mail steps:
- Request your mail-in ballot through www.mailmyballotma.com or with a mail ballot application.
- Fill out the application completely.
- Submit the request online through www.mailmyballotma.com or to your local election office. You should request your ballot as far in advance of the election as possible. The deadline to request a ballot by mail is (received by) 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2020.
- When your ballot arrives, read it carefully and follow the instructions to complete it and return it.
- Track your ballot
There are currently 193 ballot drop boxes across the state. Click here to find a ballot drop box location near you.
