FITCHBURG, Mass. — More cases have been reportedly tied back to a cluster of COVID-19 at a Fitchburg church, health officials said.

As of last week, on Oct. 23, 18 cases of the novel coronavirus have been linked back to services and programs at Crossroads Community Church. Days later, Stephen Curry, the Fitchburg Director of Public Health said 17 more cases were identified, bringing the total number of people infected to 35.

The city said they have been working with the church to ensure it’s a safe and healthy space for attendees. The board of health is also interviewing the confirmed cases and providing contact tracing to prevent the virus from spreading any further.

Crossroads Church continues to remain closed voluntarily, but health officials are working to ensure it can reopen safely. There is no set date for the church to reopen.
