SAUGUS, Mass. — The Square One Mall is among the many COVID-19 testing sites closed Friday due to the winter storm.
For many who need negative test results to return to work, school, or daycare, the storm comes at an awful time. Some sites have afternoon hours, so the public is urged to call the company hosting COVID tests to see if the site will operate on Friday.
Snowfall isn’t quite as intense in Wakefield as it was when we left Weston 30+ minutes ago, but road surfaces are worse up here. Lots of buildup by the side and pavement is hard to spot in the middle lanes. @boston25 pic.twitter.com/pNatt8mHrD

Road conditions in Saugus from 6 a.m. onward have been slippery, though plows have been out trying to keep up with the intense storm.
The wind began picking up just before 8 a.m. as well.
Boston 25 News witnessed an MBTA bus stuck near the exit of the Square One Mall as it approached Essex Street around 7 a.m.
Boston 25 News crew also saw construction equipment sliding around the same lot. The main road outside the mall, Route 1, is down to the blacktop due to slush.
Route one on both sides looks good (Saugus). Down to slush. Still slippery but not bad. Plows getting it done. @boston25 pic.twitter.com/on7krggXp3
