MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — Some waited in line for four hours to get coronavirus tests administered in Marlborough on Wednesday morning.
“I’m bored and tired, hungry but I think we’re going to do it,” said Kathleen Warwick of Shrewsbury.
The state opened testing sites in Chelsea, Everett, Fall River, Lawrence, Lowell, Lynn, New Bedford, and Marlborough.
Wednesday, Boston 25 News spoke with some of the people awaiting tests, the turnaround time for results, one or two days. Kathy Lynch hopes to be on her way to vacation to see family by then.
“If not maybe we’ll be on the road,” said the Framingham grandmother, “It’s still worth being tested.”
In Boston, where there have been 13,888 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 9,982 people recovered, and 722 have died as a result of the virus, according to the Public Health Commission, more testing is being done.
“Our goal is to have access to between 300-400 tests per day,” said Marty Martinez, Health and Human Services Chief.
The city hired East Boston Neighborhood Health Center to manage temporary testing sites which have sprouted up in Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, and now, Allston.
Testing outside of Jackson/Mann School began Tuesday and continues for two weeks, results are expected within two days.

The state is recommending people seek a COVID-19 test if they have any symptoms associated with the virus or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for it.
In Boston, the mobile testing sites are free whether you have or do not have symptoms, you are asked to call ahead for screening before going to a site.
