NEWTON, Mass. — Boston College will require that guests to all of its athletics events on campus show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or produce a negative COVID-19 PCR test administered in the 72 hours before the game, the college announced Friday.
That policy will begin on Saturday, September 4 when the Eagles have the home opener of their 2021 college football season at Alumni Stadium against Colgate.

Guests to BC football games will have to show that proof at one of a number of Welcome Tents stationed around the stadium. They will also need to provide officials with a valid form of government-issued ID along with their proof of vaccination or negative COVID PCR test.
“Boston College is currently working with a national vendor to procure a mobile app that will allow guests at athletics events and guests at certain University gatherings to upload their COVID-19 vaccination cards or negative COVID-19 PCR tests via their smartphones,” the college wrote Friday.
“It is anticipated that the app will be available prior to the BC-Missouri home football game on September 25.”
Children under the age of 12 are exempt from the vaccination or negative test requirement; however, they are required to wear face coverings while attending each event.

“We have an obligation to do all that we can to help mitigate the spread of the deadly virus and to protect not only our Boston College supporters but also our entire campus community who are doing their part to help keep themselves—and all of us—safe by becoming fully vaccinated,” said Pat Kraft, the BC director of Athletics.
“We recognize that many in our BC family are already vaccinated and that those who are not, may be inconvenienced by the testing requirement for entry, but this decision is made in the collective best interests of our community, and the community around us.”
