HAVERHILL, Mass. — A Haverhill dad has continued his tradition of making an epic Halloween costume for his son with cerebral palsy.
Every year, Tom Hardy transforms his son's wheelchair into something special. This year's costume has an especially personal meaning for the family.
Tommy Hardy, 15, no longer saw his wheelchair; instead he saw himself behind the cockpit piloting an Airforce fighter jet.
For the past month, Tommy's dad and friends put in nearly 100 hours of work, using parts from around the garage to create his Halloween costume. Tommy's grandparents were both in the Airforce and both passed away this year.
Tommy is living with Autism and is nonverbal, but his dad say's he's your typical teenager who loves Halloween and getting attention.
In year's past, Tommy has been an X-wing fighter from "Star Wars," rode one of the dragon's from "Game of Thrones," and last year stopped traffic in a police car.
They set a budget at around $75.
