WESTON, Mass. — In a series of tweets, Gov. Charlie Baker outlined how the state is preparing for Monday’s winter storm.

Baker said the Massachusetts Department of Transportation has 3,900 state-owned and vendor plows and salt trucks ready to clear the roads. He’s encouraging people to avoid going out, if possible.

“We’re urging residents to stay off the roadways and avoid travel if possible,” Baker said in a statement. “If you must go out, allow plenty of extra time and consider public transportation.”

The governor also announced all Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles locations will close Monday at noon. Customers with appointments Monday afternoon must reschedule.

The governor also directed all non-emergency state employees to work from home Monday.

If COVID-19 vaccination sites are forced to close due to weather, Baker said officials will reach out to people to reschedule their appointments.
