FRANKLIN, Mass. — A Franklin police officer is getting praise from many residents after going above and beyond the call of duty.
Jim Delbou’s daughter Lilah is recovering from a concussion she suffered two weeks ago playing basketball.
When Delbou noticed a neighbor using a leaf blower just after 8 a.m., he called FPD to ask about the town’s bylaws. The dispatcher told him it was allowed, but sent an officer to the area anyway.
When Officer Louis Marguerite arrived, rather than speak with the neighbors, he grabbed a rake and helped move the leaves to the backyard where the blower was less of a problem for Delbou’s daughter.
"I saw him, he had a rake in hand and started raking from the sidewalk to the back of the house,” Delbou said.
Marguerite's children had been through concussions, so he know what Delbou and his daughter were dealing with.
"I didn't want to be the bad guy and tell them to shut down, but didn't want to go back to the father and say there was nothing I could do,” Marguerite said.
Jim posted a video of the encounter on Facebook and just one day has more than 200,000 views.
