FOX25 launching two new sports programs

DEDHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- When I joined the FOX25 Sports team in April, one of our main objectives was to launch a series of new programs to bolster FOX25's coverage of the Boston sports scene.  Just over three months later, I'm happy to announce we are launching a pair of new shows over the course of the next three weekends.

Each Saturday from 10:45 - 11:00pm, Bryan Salmond will host the Saturday edition of the FOX25 Sports Wrap. The inaugural episode debuts this Saturday, July 11 after the FOX25 News at 10, which will follow FOX25's live coverage of the Red Sox/Yankees game from Fenway Park.

On a weekly basis, the FOX25 Sports Wrap will include extended highlights from action around Boston and the world, with reaction from players, managers and coaches that matters to our viewers. We will also dissect the biggest sports topics and seek your thoughts and comments through social media.

With our extended time, we'll share the stories of our local athletes through one-on-one interviews, features and profiles. There are many stories to be told and we're thrilled to have a platform to share them with the passionate sports fans of New England.

This Saturday, Bryan sits down for a chat with Celtics guard Avery Bradley.

Starting Sunday, August 2, I will host the Sunday edition of the FOX25 Sports Wrap, airing 11:30pm - 12:00am each week. With Patriots training camp starting that week and the MLB trade deadline on July 31, we'll have plenty to cover as we launch the new show.

I've always enjoyed hosting a Sunday night show and I'm thrilled to be back in the saddle as football season approaches. I hope you enjoy our style and unique approach to sharing highlights, mixed with reaction and analysis from the players who made the plays on the field.

Butch Stearns will join me on set each week to debate the issues and Bryan Salmond will be featured throughout the season as we travel with the Patriots to cover the Super Bowl champs.

We're also in the process of finalizing new segments that will take you behind the scenes of the inner workings of our local sports teams.

In both the Saturday and Sunday edition of the FOX25 Sports Wrap, we'll weave some high school football coverage in, too. FOX25 High School GameDay is alive and well and we will take advantage of a brand that has been very successful for many years. We've added a few tweaks and additions to our FOX25 High School GameDay plans to make our viewers a bigger part of the experience.

The beauty of television is this: Programming is always evolutionary.  What you see during our debut broadcasts will morph over time to meet the demands and suggestions of our viewers. We're open to your feedback and eager to hear your thoughts.

Our producers Chad Amaral and Mike Dyer are raring to go with ideas they've been developing for years.

Follow us on Twitter and Facebook and join the conversation! See you Saturday night and please spread the word.
