SUDBURY, Mass. — Runners didn’t tackle Heartbreak Hill this Marathon Monday or get their triumphant moments on Boylston Street, but four brothers in Sudbury had their own marathon moment without even leaving their yard.
Thomas Warzynski said he knew a lot of people were disappointed they couldn’t run Boston this year.
“I think a lot of people really looked forward to it,” he said.
So their family chose to run the 26.2 miles in their yard to raise money.

“We are very fortunate, I guess, in a time like this. We are just trying to help those who are not as fortunate,” Warzynski said.
The brothers set it up like a relay, handing off a watch that measured the distance as they ran from their front yard to their back yard. It took them about three hours and 45 minutes. Just like the marathon, they ended up with spectators and supporters driving by cheering them on.
So far, they’ve raised about $4,000 for Off Their Plate.
“It’s a charity that goes to restaurants to prepare meals for front line health care workers and with all the stress they are dealing with, COVID-19 and caring for their patients,” Sean Warzynski explained.
The boys aren’t runners and aren’t in marathon shape, but they hope they can show others that you can come together to help, at any age, even while staying apart.
