Former Ipswich Fire chief accused of assault again

LOWELL, Mass. — A former fire chief previously accused of assaulting his wife has been arrested and charged with assaulting two minors in his home, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office.

Gregory Gagnon, now a firefighter in Devens, was chief of the Ipswich fire department when previous assault charges were dropped as his wife refused to testify.

On Dec. 28, The Middlesex County District Attorney's Office says Gagnon assaulted two minors in his Dracut home. He was arrested and charged in connection to the assault. He was also issued a restraining order.

Judge Daniel Crane released Gagnon on personal recognizance after a hearing. He has been ordered to comply with recommendations from the Department of Children and Families.

Despite the previous charges being dropped, Gagnon resigned from the Ipswich fire department. He previously served as a firefighter for the town of Dracut for 18 years.
