A flight from Boston to New York had a unique reason to reverse course after the plane struck a bird, according to American Airlines.

The airline said flight 2163 from Logan International Airport to LaGuardia Airport in New York returned to Boston Sunday morning after taking off at 10:08 a.m. after "the aircraft encountered a bird strike."

American Airlines said the flight landed safely in Boston 11 minutes after the initial takeoff and taxied to the gate.
