FALL RIVER — They are busy loading trucks and gearing-up for winter at NorthEast Fleece in Fall River.
The blanket manufacturer is creating a warm message of hope and faith during the pandemic.
“This year has been a really tough year. I mean the wildfires, floods, the COVID, obviously. So its just been a really sad year, so that’s where the idea came from”

Peter Moubayed founded the company more than 25 years ago. A short time later he and his wife, Dede, launched what they call a charitable giving program.
“Fleece For Peace” assists in humanitarian and disaster relief efforts around the country and the world.
Their blankets are warming people and lifting their spirits during what has been a tumultuous 2020.
“The hope and the faith at this time of the year, particularly with the COVID and wildfires and the floods, it just felt like we had to send a message to people and comfort them,” Moubayed said.
While their business was shut down in the spring due to COVID-19, Moubayed came up with a new project for the ‘Fleece For Peace’ program.
He and Dede designed two new blankets. They’re simple, yet carry a powerful message of encouragement.
One has Faith printed on it, the other Hope.
“We need some hope. We need to look towards blue sky, hence sky blue color. We need to move forward. We need to think things can get better,” Dede Moubayed said.
Getting better, one blanket at a time. NorthEast Fleece ordered 60-thousand of the Faith and Hope blankets that will go towards those in need. If you are interested in donating a blanket you can do so here.
