MILLIS, Mass. — A fire consumed a popular family-owned restaurant on Main Street in Millis overnight, causing the roof to eventually collapse Wednesday morning.
Smoke continued to pour from Budabing's 50's Cafe at 1060 Main St., off Route 109, after a two-alarm blaze broke out sometime early Wednesday.
The owner of the property told Boston 25 News that the restaurant has been a fixture in Millis since opening it opened in 1998.
Millis Fire Chief Rick Barrett said no one was inside the restaurant as firefighters arrived to find the building fully engulfed by flames. A roof collapse ruptured a gas line that further fed the growing fire.
Millis police closed Route 109 early Wednesday morning as traffic was detoured to Hammond Lane and Spring Street.
