State Police identify motorcylist killed in Pike crash

A single-motorcycle crash killed a Jamaica Plain man on Wednesday afternoon in the Mass. Pike in Brighton.

The off ramp at Exit 18 was reopened about two hours after authorities closed it down to investigate the fatal crash.

Officials say the crash, involving a single motorcycle, happened at around 2:43 p.m. on Wednesday. A State Police trooper happened upon the crash and immediately called in for emergency services.

At the scene, the operator of the motorcycle, identified as 32-year-old Stephen Salazar, of Jamaica Plain, had been suffering from serious injuries. He was later pronounced dead.

Preliminary investigation shows Salazar had been taking the exit when, for reasons still unknown, his motorcycle overturned. No other cars were involved in the crash.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
