WORCESTER, Mass. — Boston 25 News has obtained exclusive video showing a vicious attack on the streets of Worcester.
Police are trying to identify the group of people seen in this surveillance video.
Just before 4 a.m. Tuesday morning, you could see a group of people surround a 27-year-old man. They punch and kick him repeatedly. Then, moments later, the victim was stabbed several times.
"There was a crime scene outside of the church, yellow tape," said Joshua Lopez, who is part of La Hermosa Church, which is just a few feet from where the stabbing happened on Oread Street in Worcester.
"It was something like out of a movie. It’s startled me. There was a lot of police, detectives and I was shocked when I came and saw it like that," said Lopez.
The victim was left stumbling for help.
As the sun came up, Worcester Police surrounded the area looking for evidence.
"For 7 people to gang up on one guy then beat him, and stab him, it’s horrible to know what’s happening in our community," said Lopez.
Lopez says he and his family are always trying to help those who are less fortunate in the area.
"We are a church, and want to make the community better. We want people to come here to seek safety," Lopez said.
Boston 25 has learned that the victim is from the Randolph area. He is expected to survive.
Police are asking the public to please come forward with any tips.
