Everett Superintendent of Schools Frederick Foresteire submitted his letter of retirement to the Everett School Committee amid sexual harassment allegations against him.
Foresteire submitted the letter on Monday to the chairman of the Everett School Committee, saying he was retiring at the end of the day Tuesday.

"It has been a wonderful fifty-two and one half years!" Foresteire wrote in the letter.
The move comes soon after the Everett School Committee voted to place Foresteire on administrative leave amid sexual harassment allegations against him.

The School Committee, which named Janice Gothier as interim superintendent, also voted to allocate $50,000 to pay for an independent investigation into the allegations. The moves came after two women came forward alleging that Forestiere sexually harassed them.
