PLYMOUTH, Mass. — An electrical issue is being eyed as the cause of a building fire at Plimoth Plantation, Plymouth Fire Chief Ed Bradley confirmed to Boston 25 News.
A staff member called firefighters just before 6:30 p.m. Thursday after seeing smoke coming from one of the administrative buildings.
Bradley said the fire was in the basement of the building. The basement's windows were boarded up, which made battling the blaze a bit difficult.
Firefighters contained the fire to the building. Bradley estimates the fire caused $50,000 in damage.
A firefighter was taken to the hospital with a leg injury.
Plimoth Plantation is a living history museum dedicated to telling the history of Plymouth Colony from the perspective of both the Pilgrims and the Native Wampanoag people.
The museum remains open to the public.
