BROCKTON, Mass. — A fire erupted at a gas station in Brockton overnight after a car crashed into a gas pump.

Video footage posted by the Brockton Fire Department on Twitter shows the driver of a car appear to back up and crash into a gas pump at Prime Gas on 570 North Montello Street just before midnight Wednesday. The driver then pulls forward, out of view of the camera.

Brockton police spokesman Darren Duarte said in a statement that the driver of a 2005 Subaru Impreza pulled in to the gas station and attempted to back up to get closer to the pump. The 57-year-old driver told police he lost control and hit the pump, Duarte said, and called 911 from the parking lot across from the station after the fire.

No one was injured in the incident, Duarte said.

The gas station remains closed Thursday morning.
