Donations needed for Duxbury firefighter battling work-related cancer

DUXBURY, Mass. — The Duxbury Fire Department is asking for help raising money for one of their brothers who's in a fight for his life.

On August 20, Jeff Chandler was diagnosed with Stage 4 occupational bladder and lymph node cancer as a direct result of being exposed to carcinogens during his 31 years on the job.

Chandler has served as a Firefighter/EMT, department mechanic and member of the Plymouth County Technical Resource Team.

He has lived in Duxbury his entire life and is a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

Chandler will begin aggressive chemotherapy in October and will be unable to return to duty for the foreseeable future.

Duxbury Fire is asking for donations in any amount of help Chandler with his added medical expenses and care.

"He is a man who has selflessly served this great community," the fundraising page read. "Now is our time to give back to a man who has given so much."
