BOSTON — A golden retriever was rescued Sunday morning by divers with the Boston Fire Department.
Boston Fire tweeted Sunday morning that around 9:40 a.m., crews were called to Pleasure Bay in South Boston to rescue a dog in the water.

The rescue happened approximately 200 feet from shore. The owner stated that Kai likes to swim but went out a little too far and wasn’t able to swim back. The dog was in the water approx 30-40 minutes before BFD arrival. pic.twitter.com/hDztXktA5o

Crews were able to rescue 12-year-old Kai, who was approximately 200-feet from shore.
The owner said Kai likes to swim, but went out a little too far and wasn't able to swim back. Rescue crews say the pup was in the water for approximately 30-40 minutes before responders arrived.
The Tech Rescue team was able to bring Kai, a 12 year old golden retriever in quickly. The companies just had water rescue training last week and it showed today. A great job by all ,and a happy ending. Kai was treated @BOSTON_EMS and went to the hospital with the owner. pic.twitter.com/zGZFwr3MoE

Just last week, crews had training drills to prepare them for a situation like this.
