Delivery driver allegedly robbed, stabbed in Medford

A delivery driver was allegedly robbed and stabbed in Medford, according to Medford Police.

Police said they received a call from a driver from a local restaurant around 8:10 p.m. Saturday night that he had been robbed and stabbed in the area of Washington Street.

"There's never really any issues around here," Medford native Hilary Dudley said. "It's a really quiet area. There's a lot of children that live in this area."

Officers found a man lying on the ground with an apparent stab wound to his lower back, and he was treated and rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital for emergency surgery.

Police said he is in stable condition after the alleged attack.

Sunday, no children were out in the area, including Dudley's three-year-old child, in part because of the remains from the attack.

"Literally still the feathers from his coat last night," Dudley said. "Everybody's pretty shaken up. I have to say, it's been really quiet here today."

Dudley is also a delivery driver, working for Uber Eats to help get through school.

Saturday night's attack, naturally, left her especially shaken.

I'm a 26-year-old full-time college student with a three-year-old," Dudley said. "You know, I'm just trying to make an honest buck. Just like that guy last night was trying to make an honest buck. People can't even go to work anymore to make an honest dollar and not worry about getting robbed or if their life is in danger? It just doesn't make any sense."

The search for a suspect is still on, and police say the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
