Decision on Boston's 2024 Olympic bid expected Thursday

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- By Thursday afternoon, Boston should know if the city will stay in the running for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

The U.S. Olympic Committee is meeting today to decide which city will represent our country in the international bid for the games. Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington are also in the running.

The decision will likely come shortly after Governor-elect Charlie Baker is sworn in to office. The Boston Herald reports he would have to start his time as Governor almost immediately with USOC meetings, which would take place on Friday.

The paper says the Baker's camp could be interested in a more state-wide Olympic games, which differs from the proposed Boston-centric plan.
